Mission: Empowering Social and Cultural Transition

The sudanese American Society of Connecticut aims to assist in the social and cultural transition of both its own members and other families, facilitating their integration into the broader fabric of American society

MISSION

The sudanese Society of Connecticut is committed to providing cultural and social support without regard to race, color, ethnicity, religion, nationality, economic status, or any other distinction. This inclusive approach aims to foster a sense of Society and unity.

2

In addition to cultural and social support, the Society actively promotes self-sufficiency through initiatives focused on education, employment, and economic empowerment. By empowering individuals with resources, services, and skills, the goal is to strengthen the sudanese Society, emphasizing mutual assistance, cultural identity, and leadership development.

3

To address challenges arising from cultural differences, the Society offers cultural awareness training and individual/family support services. These efforts aim to resolve issues stemming from the contrast between traditional African cultures and the American culture.

4

Furthermore, the Society plays a crucial role in helping its members understand the laws of the Society and their basic rights. This involves identifying Society issues and developing strategic steps to address and resolve them effectively.

5

To ensure seamless integration into various aspects of society, the Society provides essential services such as interpretation, translation, transportation, and case management. These services extend to liaising with important agencies including employers, hospitals, immigration offices, welfare departments, housing providers, and employment agencies.

6

Beyond practical assistance, the Society actively engages in familiarizing its members with the neighborhood and the city, fostering a sense of belonging and connection.

7

Recognizing the importance of youth well-being, the Society offers youth counseling services. This initiative aims to prevent youth involvement in negative activities such as drugs, crimes, and the spread of STDs and HIV/AIDS. By providing guidance and support, the Society seeks to empower its youth to make positive life choices.
